In addition, many people choose Medicare Advantage Plans because they want a simpler Medicare experience. Medicare Advantage may cover all your needs, and you won’t have to buy multiple plans to supplement Original Medicare. Similarly, a Medicare Advantage plan may come with lower out-of-pocket costs. People with Original Medicare can use any U.S. medical provider or facility that takes Medicare. When enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, you generally will need to adhere to a specific network. If you do receive care from an out-of-network provider, you may have a higher cost sharing.
If you want or need to continue seeing a specific doctor, check to make sure they’re in the plan before signing up. Also, keep in mind that you may be required to get referrals or prior approval before certain procedures or treatments.
